fall getaways to fit every budget and activity.
Arcadia Lodge is located in northern Minnesota on Big Turtle Lake in the
Chippewa National Forest. The colorful fall foliage here provides many opportunities
for fall color driving tours; and our pontoon and boat rentals provide the
perfect opportunity to view t he fall colors and plentiful wildlife while
cruising the crystal clear blue waters of Big Turtle Lake.
Along with close easy access to many miles of
open hiking
and hunting trails you can
experience the north woods all while staying in one of our
luxurious cabins. All cabins have fireplaces, satellite TV, central
air conditioning and a large screen porch with a view of beautiful Big Turtle
Lake.

Fall Colors & Wildlife!
Located in the Heart of the
Chippewa National Forest along the Edge of the Wilderness Arcadia
offers great opportunities to view all that the north woods has to
offer. The
Edge of the Wilderness Area is rich in bird and
other
wildlife viewing. Don't be
surprised to have an eagle soar over your car, a grouse wander across
the road or see loons alongside your boat. Big Turtle Lake alone
boasts 3 separate bald eagle nests all with easy viewing from a boat
or pontoon along with an abundance of whitetail deer, ducks,
beavers, otters, loons and the occasional timber wolf. With
over half the lake in state or federally protected forest there's
hundreds of acres of untamed wilderness to explore. If your
looking for hiking, walking or biking trails there are several
places close to Arcadia most notable the Suomi Hills area and the
Joyce Estates. The Fall Color Tour, historically beginning in
mid September and lasting till the beginning of October is one of
the most amazing sights of the north woods. Watch has the many
different species of trees turn there leaves yellow, orange, red,
and all the colors in between, in preparation for the long winter
ahead.
Romantic Getaway Anyone?
Fall is one of the best times to
take a romantic getaway. Our luxurious cabins offer plenty of
privacy, serenity and seclusion as well as romantic lake views, fireplaces and
thick comfortable bedding.
Enjoy a quite relaxing tour of Big Turtle Lake on one of our
pontoons or take a quite stroll thru Arcadia's new walking trail.
If your looking for the perfect day trip then a drive up The
Edge of the Wilderness National Scenic Byway and a walk thru the Suomi
Hills is a must. Designated a
National Scenic Byway in 1998, State Highway 38 between Grand Rapids and
Bigfork winds 47 miles through breathtaking fall colors and around
crystal clear blue lakes. Several turnouts provide access to
hiking trails, historic sites and the Chippewa Fall Color Tour.
Some of the points of interest include the Joyce Estates, a 1930 circa
estate accessible only by foot; the Suomi Hills Recreation Area - a
wonderful hiking and biking trail and the Laurentian
Divide. Our terrific off-season rates make
Arcadia Lodge an even more attractive vacation option. Our on-site
restaurant, The Eagles' Nest Dining Room is
open thru September 30th on Friday and Saturday evenings from 4 to 8
p.m.
Fishing

This area boasts thousands
of acres of state and federal land open for hunting. Bear, grouse,
deer, ducks, and geese are the most popular game. Arcadia welcomes
and encourages you to bring your favorite hunting dog this fall and
try our grouse and duck hunting. With hundreds of acres of
state
and federal land and several small secluded lakes within only a few
miles Arcadia offers a great base of operations with modern cabins

Minnesota is the top ruffed grouse-producing state in the U.S. No
other state harvests as many ruffed grouse each fall or provides as
much public hunting land containing ruffed grouse. The ruffed
grouse is a native woodland bird about the size of a small chicken.
The bird is noted for its fan-shaped tail marked by a broad, dark
band. Some ruffed grouse--called red-phased birds--have
chestnut-colored tails, and the gray-phased birds have gray or
slate-colored tails. The bird also has a concealed neck ruff that
the male puffs out during courtship displays.
Fall fishing is excellent on Big Turtle Lake as the
smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, walleye and northern pike are out in force gorging themselves
in preparation for the long winter ahead. Big Turtle Lake boasts over
2,000 acres of prime fishing waters with many hidden bays and coves
that offer the perfect secluded and relaxing fishing trip.
Well known has one of the best Smallmouth Bass lakes in northern
Minnesota Big Turtle will provide the fall fishing trip you've been
looking for. The Smallmouth Bass is an aggressive fighter and
will put up a fight. Weather your an Experienced Bass
Fisherman or trying your luck for the first time you'll will love
hunting the sma ll
bays and coves for the elusive 5 pounder while reeling in Small and
Largemouth Bass by the dozen. Bring your own boat or rent one
of ours, Arcadia offers boats ranging in size from 14' to 16'
fishing boats to 24' pontoons. Arcadia offers a large fish
cleaning house at the docks and all docks provide power every twenty
feet for recharging batteries.
Fall
is truly a relaxing time of the year here at Arcadia and we offer
discounted rates and shorter stays. The dining room serves
Friday through Saturday in the fall until the end of September. You can be sure there will be a roaring fire in the lodge
fireplace, great food, and a relaxing atmosphere.
